Jessica Andrade doesn’t think Joanna Jedrzejczyk can beat Weili Zhang

Weili Zhang’s rise to the top of the ladder in the UFC has been phenomenal. She claimed the strawweight title with a first-round TKO victory over Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night 157.

Her fight with Andrade took place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen and it took the Chinese less than a minute to dismantle the Brazilian star. This victory has made Weili Zhang a huge star in her home country.

Now, the only fight that makes sense for Zhang at the moment is a fight against the former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. However, Andrade believes that Joanna can’t beat Zhang.

A fight with Joanna would be very interesting,” Andrade said in a recent interview with Guillermo Cruz of MMAFighting. “Joanna is one of the best in the division, and she has evolved a lot, as we saw in her last fight. Weili Zhang is very strong, is really fast on the feet, so I it would be really interesting.

It’s a hard one to predict who would win, but I’d bet on Weili Zhang. I think she would continue to reign, because of her strength. Even though she’s not the type of fighter that goes for takedowns and prefers to stay on the feet, she’s very strong and kicks really hard – something Joanna doesn’t handle that well.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Michelle Waterson at UFC Fight Night 161 last month. She also holds a victory over Andrade. (H/T –
