Jessica Andrade shocked the entire combat sports and MMA world, in particular, when she defeated the former UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas to become the new UFC strawweight champion. She is now set to make her first title defense against the Chinese Weili Zhang.
Andrade has a professional MMA record of 20-6, with her last loss coming to former dominant UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211. Since then she has gone on to win four consecutive fights against the likes of Claudia Gadelha, Rose Namajunas, etc.
On the other hand, Zhang is a relatively unknown prospect in the UFC and there is a general consensus that the UFC is pushing her into a title shot too soon to capitalize on the growing Chinese market.
Andrade is now set to lock horns with Zhang in the main event of UFC Shenzhen.
