Current UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas is all set to fight top contender Jessica Andrade at UFC 211 which will take place in Rio De Janeiro on May 11. Rose hasn’t competed inside the Octagon since her rematch victory over Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, New York last year.
Jessica Andrade spoke to MMA Junkie where she revealed how she was planning to beat the strawweight champion of the world. She said Rose has improved tremendously, but Andrade’s striking will be the most important aspect in this fight.
“Rose is very fast and versatile. She proved that against Joanna. Our strategy is to cut her off, strike, and not let her have any space. She needs space to make her striking game happen. I’ll be looking for a KO.” Andrade said.
Andrade who earlier fought at 135 pounds said that she is right now fighting at the correct weight class and has improved and evolved a lot.
“I evolve with each fight. And, against Rose, I’ll show up even better. I’ve been improving my footwork, which is where things went wrong against Joanna. That won’t happen again. We’ll have a great fight.” Andrade concluded. (H/T- MMA Junkie)
Andrade is coming off a devastating knockout victory over Karolina Kowalkiewicz. She is on a three-fight winning streak ever since losing to Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211 last year.
