Jiri Prochazka signed a contract with the UFC in January 2020. He made his promotional debut against former UFC Light Heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir on July 11, 2020, at UFC 251. He won via knockout in the second round. In his last fight, he fought another title challenger Dominick Reyes. The fight was a high-paced war between both these highly skilled fighters, but it was Jiri who was able to take shot and put a pace on Reyes which he couldn’t handle and eventually started to fade away. He then got caught with a brutal elbow and Reyes was dropped face-first on the mat and Jiri Prochazka won the fight via knockout.

In his return interview, he revealed details about his hardcore training patterns in which he said that he punches a tree 500 times a day and this exercise is a part of his fight training.

“It’s good for the body to be in the technique to be like a rock,” he explained. “Then I can go through the opponent’s body with my technique, and my technique can be more dangerous. It’s a good training for the body.”

“After some 500 punches, then I go to the bag, and the bag is very easy, believe me,” he said.

“No breaks,” he said. “That’s how my training must be, because if you want to show something crazy, something new, you must train like that.”

Jiri Prochazka is now scheduled to take on the new light-heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira. Teixeira was expected to face Jan Błachowicz at UFC 266 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. However, the matchup was delayed and shifted to October 30, 2021, at UFC 267. Teixeira won the fight by second-round rear-naked choke submission, winning the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. He dominated Jan in all aspects of the game as he even cracked Jan in the first round of the fight.
