Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is all set to fight the reigning UFC strawweight champion, Weili Zhang, at UFC 248, which is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 7.

However, even if Joanna is fighting for the title, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of fighting at the flyweight division again. She competed for the flyweight title back at UFC 231, where she was beaten by Valentina Shevchenko via unanimous decision. Her move to flyweight came after she lost her strawweight title to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 via TKO in the first round.

She again fought Namajunas in a rematch at UFC 223, where she again lost, but this time via unanimous decision. Namajunas again earned a shot at the strawweight title by defeating Michelle Waterson in a highly entertaining fight at UFC Fight Night 161 in October.

Speaking to reporters at UFC 245 recently, Jedrzejczyk admitted that she will likely move back up to the flyweight division in future.

Yeah, maybe in the future. Before my fight with Valentina Shevchenko, I didn’t have enough time to prepare for this fight for a different division, you know? I had only six weeks to prepare and face one of the greatest,” Jedrzejczyk said (via MMANews.com).

Definitely. That’s the plan for the future,” Jedrzejczyk said.

Earlier this year as well, she made it clear that the reason behind losing to Valentina Shevchenko was the time constraint in the fight camp.

I will go down to 115,” Jedrzejczyk told MMA Junkie. “I need some time to refresh my body, refresh my mind and feel the fire. I am very happy that I could face Valentina Shevchenko and I didn’t feel the power of her punches, but definitely I felt her clinch. That’s the thing: That fight with Valentina went on and off, on and off so I didn’t have time to prepare physically for this fight.”
