Joe Rogan feels that Khamzat Chimaev would have already had a UFC title shot, if not for a huge blunder on the fighter’s part that has cost him the same.
Khamzat really f***** up: Joe Rogan
One of the most famous fighters in the current UFC roster, Chimaev has dominated at both welterweight and middleweight and is slated to face his new grudge rival Paulo Costa at UFC 294 this 21st October in Abu Dhabi.
Many fans feel that the Chimaev vs. Costa match will serve as to determine the next title challenger and if he wins, “Borz” will earn a shot at UFC gold up next. However, Joe Rogan feels the sail may not be that smooth for Chimaev, concerning the mistake he made at UFC 297 which he believes is continuing to cost him.
At UFC 279, Chimaev was set to face Nate Diaz in the main event. However, the Chechnyan fighter shockingly failed to make weight and was seven pounds over the limit. As a result, he was replaced by Tony Ferguson and faced Kevin Holland in the co-main event.
In a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience”, the UFC color commentator opined that this huge fail on the scale cost Chimaev to lose out on a UFC title shot which he could have gotten by now otherwise.
“Khamzat really f***** up when he didn’t make weight against Nate Diaz, because if he made weight against Nate Diaz and has a great showing against Nate Diaz, that guy’s got the next title shot,” said Rogan. “He’s a f****** star, he’s just got that thing.”
