Conor McGregor faced criticism from UFC fans after pulling out of his scheduled comeback fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. The Irishman’s broken toe forced him to cancel the entire event, leaving fans disappointed and outraged.

However, Joe Rogan, renowned podcaster and MMA commentator, defended McGregor’s decision during a recent episode of his JRE Fight Companion. Here’s why Rogan thinks it was a smart move:

“Here’s the thing about a broken pinkie toe. When you’re a guy who kicks as much as Conor, it’s a f***ing problem. It’s also the same foot where his leg was snapped, and he went into that fight injured. He’s never pulled out of a fight before. This is the first [fight] he’s pulled out of, and I think it’s wise. If you do have a broken toe and you are going into a fight… what if that f***ing toe becomes a real issue. What if he throws a kick and it smashes again and he’s in agony.” Joe Rogan stated.

The Broken Pinkie Toe Dilemma

Rogan pointed out that a broken pinkie toe can significantly impact a fighter like McGregor, who relies heavily on kicks. As one of the sport’s most renowned strikers, McGregor’s offense could suffer due to the injury. Moreover, it’s the same foot where his leg was previously snapped during a fight.

Conor McGregor’s Painful Recovery

Conor McGregor himself described the broken toe as “very, very painful.” Unlike his leg injury, which was wrapped up during his last fight, the toe remains exposed and limits his mobility. Even wearing shoes is currently impossible for him.

The Wise Decision

Considering Conor McGregor’s fighting style and the severity of the injury, Rogan concluded that pulling out of UFC 303 was a wise choice. He emphasized that McGregor’s effectiveness in the octagon could have been compromised, making it a risky proposition.

while fans may have been disappointed, Joe Rogan believes that McGregor’s decision to withdraw from UFC 303 was a prudent move given the circumstances.
