Later this summer, UFC analyst Joe Rogan has no intention of calling Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena.

“Remember The Name” will attempt to defend his first title later this year in Montreal. Belal Muhammad, who won UFC gold by defeating Leon Edwards in Manchester nearly a year ago, will face up-and-coming Jack Della Maddalena. The Australian, who recently defeated Gilbert Burns via knockout in Miami last year, will go into his first title battle on a 17-bout winning streak. But in Canada, there will be more than just the welterweight crown at stake.

Valentina Shevchenko will make her comeback to the octagon to take on Manon Fiorot in the co-main event. In their trilogy fight, “Bullet” famously regained the gold last September by decisively defeating Alexa Grasso. “The Beast,” meanwhile, will go into her first UFC title fight with a 12-fight winning record after defeating Erin Blanchfield by a landslide last March. Other well-known fights, including as Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi, will round out the card.

But in May, don’t count on Joe Rogan to call the action. Notably, the 57-year-old color commentator hasn’t attended an international event in years, and he has no intention of doing so at UFC 315. Speaking with Brendan Schaub and other guests on a recent episode of “Fight Companion,” Rogan said he would prefer to travel to Russia over Canada for political reasons.

Joe Rogan misses the chance to call Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena’s UFC 315 matchup.

“I won’t be there [at UFC 315]. I don’t go to Canada anymore,” Joe Rogan said to Brendan Schaub on a recent “Fight Companion” podcast from over the weekend. “I’d rather go to Russia. [51st state?] That’s never going to happen. It’s crazy that they asked them to be the 51st state. I had a conversation with [Donald] Trump about it, he goes ‘I started calling him Governor [Justin] Trudeau just for fun.’”

He continued, “But a lot of people were saying it’s a good idea. Maybe it is a good idea… They have terrible government, but the Canadian people are awesome.”

As of now, it’s unknown who will replace Joe Rogan in the booth at UFC 315 in May. However, former middleweight champion Michael Bisping has replaced the fan-favorite commentator on several international pay-per-views in the past, including UFC 304 last summer in Manchester.
