The “The Joe Rogan Experience” is gaining new heights thanks to a multi-million dollar agreement with Spotify. Joe Rogan signed a 3-year deal reportedly worth 250 million dollars, making his show available on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and YouTube, unlike the previous deal which kept the podcast exclusive to Spotify. The Pact will secure a minimum fee for Rogan and provide him with a share of the advertising revenue. Joe Rogan went to X (previously Twitter) to announce the agreement.
“I am very happy to announce that I will extend my partnership with Spotify, the largest podcast platform in the world,” he wrote, along with announcing that his show will “soon” become available elsewhere.
“I also feel insanely fortunate to be able to have so many long, in-depth conversations with so many cool, and interesting people, and it makes me happy as f–k to know so many people enjoy watching and listening,” he added.
Spotify also announced the news on its website:
“JRE remains podcasting’s king, consistently ranking as the most-listened-to podcast globally and our users have ranked the show as Spotify’s Wrapped top podcast each year since 2020.”
Why did Spotify delete 70 episodes of “The Joe Rogan Experience” in 2022?
Rogan started the podcast in 2009 and had more than 2,200 episodes since then. Joe Rogan first paired up with Spotify in 2020 and had many ups and downs since then. In 2022 Spotify quietly removed 70 episodes of the “The Joe Rogan Experience”, fans were left clueless, guessing what the reason behind the decision was, whether it was because Joe Rogan shared misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic or because of the N-word controversy he got himself into.
In 2022, musician India Arie questioned Rogan’s respect for other races, She shared an edited compilation of clips on her Instagram account of Rogan using the N-word more than 20 times.
She also threatened to leave the streaming platform as a protest against Joe Rogan’s racist comments. Rogan later apologized about the incident, but he claimed that the word used to come up in casual conversation during the podcasts, and instead of saying the N-word he used to just say the word. Anyhow the past is past and Joe Rogan and Spotify are looking to start a new partnership together.
