Jon Jones was once the biggest potential star in the UFC and in MMA as well. It was the pre-Reebok days and before “The Notorious” era and Jones was surely the biggest name. His exclusive contract with Nike signified his stardom. However, he soon had a spectacular fall from grace. He has also had a struggle with PED’s and is currently serving a suspension. ‘Bones’ has constantly been reiterating the fact that he is innocent and that his failed drug test at UFC 214 was accidental. While may have rejected Jones’ claims, UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan believes Jones’ story to be true.
The former pound-for-pound kingpin recently talked about Jones on his own podcast known as, The Joe Rogan Experience. Here’s what he had to say about Jones:
Good as he is, I feel like for the longest time too he is trying to push this “goody two shoes” image and everybody was like, “that’s not you, this is fake”. His problems sort of forced him to just be himself, and people were like, “we like you more now”.
I believe him (Jones), that it was unintentional. I do believe it was accidental. Because in this case, it doesn’t make any sense, because if you look at how he tested positive and what he tested positive for, how he tested negative before that and how recently afterwards he tested negative. You’re talking about such a thing which was such a minuscule amount. There is no way you can consider taking something like that and having it have some sort of positive effect, like a performance enhancing effect.
His position was weakened by his testimony in the CSAC hearing because he said that Malki (Jones’ manager) had forced his signature on some of the documents. He apparently admitted that his manager forged his signature.
