John Kavanagh on Artem Lobov vs Amir Khan: It may actually happen!

After defeating former two-time world champion Paulie Malignaggi at Bare Knuckle FC 6, Artem Lobov called out another former world champion Amir Khan to fight him at BRAVE Fighting Federation.

It was initially the head coach of SBG Ireland John Kavanagh who called for Amir Khan to fight the former UFC featherweight contender at Brave FC. It’s not the first time that Lobov has called out Khan, in fact, earlier this year in January when he was released from the UFC, he called out both Paulie Malignaggi and Amir Khan at the same time.

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, John Kavanaugh talked about the possibility of a potential fight between Khan and Lobov in Dublin.

I am close to ‘The Hawk’ Shahid (President of Brave) and his highness (Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, owner of Brave and a member of Bahraini royal family) and when I was talking to Artem about this fight, ‘Would the Bareknuckle let you do this?’, He was actually on the pads with David Jones and I went out to my office to meet Shahid and said ‘what do you think about this fight on a big November card? and he was like Yeah!! we can do that‘” He said.

I am delighted for Artem….of all the guys I have coached, he has really gone the hardest way about this as he could have,” Coach Kavanaugh said. “His run in the UFC didn’t go the way it might have, and then this happened (Bare Knuckle Boxing), an incredible contest with Jason Knight and then to get the Paulie fight, I thought it was bizarre…….and I was watching it from my hotel room at 5 am screaming and people banging on the door next to me……..Its bit of a cinderella man type story and now if we can get this Amir fight which is why they’re flying him to London, they’re flying in Amir, let’s see if we can do a deal.”
