UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is all set to fight Thiago Santos at the T-Mobile Arena on July 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although Santos is the betting underdog, he is not getting the support even from his countrymen and fellow light heavyweight contender Johnny Walker.
Johnny who is currently recovering from shoulder surgery after he dislocated it during the post-fight victory celebrations at the UFC 235. Johnny said in a recent interview that he hopes Thiago Santos loses because he wants to be the guy who beats Jon Jones.
“I want to beat Jon Jones,” he said.
Johnny Walker is hoping to fight in the Octagon soon as soon as he recovers. He is currently riding on a three-fight winning streak having beaten the likes of Misha Cirkunov and Khalil Rountree.
The shoulder surgery has left Walker with an implanted screw which helps to keep it stable during the healing process. He said that he is frustrated and stressed and the only thing that he wants to do is get back into the Octagon as soon as possible.
“Very frustrating,” he told MMA Junkie. “I’ve been very stressed for the past two months. I have to keep my mind busy. I don’t know, do some yoga and stretching, work with my legs and my lower body. But it’s still not enough. I’m still stressed. I want to be back soon.”
