Demetrious Johnson, following his victory at UFC 300, surprisingly requested a microphone from Max Holloway. The event, which promises to be one of the most memorable in combat sports history, features the BMF title fight between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway. Holloway, affectionately known as “Blessed,” is moving up to the lightweight division to challenge Gaethje for the coveted BMF title. Gaethje secured the title by knocking out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 last year. The upcoming bout between these two fan favorites has been dubbed the “people’s main event” and will take place at the natural 155 lbs weight class.

In a recent interview with Michael Bisping, Demetrious Johnson, a brilliant analytical mind in the sport, expressed his prediction: “I’m going with my buddy Max (Holloway). I think Max has the tools to get it done as long as he moves his head. Justin (Gaethje) likes to box and throw his leg kicks, sometimes you see him grapple, but I think this is going to be on the feet and I think Max has the better range management, but we’ll see, it’s a fight.” Johnson believes that Holloway’s transition to lightweight, coupled with his improved preparation, gives him an edge in this matchup.

Max Holloway’s incredible victory over Gaethje

Max Holloway achieved an incredible victory by knocking out Justin Gaethje in the final moments of their BMF title bout. Throughout the fight, Holloway showcased his superior skills, dominating Gaethje with precision strikes and displaying remarkable agility, particularly with his spinning back kicks.

The sold-out crowd at the T-Mobile Arena erupted in cheers, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan aptly described the finish as the “KO of the century” while Dana White likened it to a “scene from a movie”. Holloway’s performance earned him the commemorative BMF title, awarded to the UFC’s ‘baddest’ fighter, and the description could not be more fitting. Despite the acclaim, Holloway humbly ranks this knockout as the second-best moment of his career, following his win over Brazil’s Jose Aldo in 2017 for the featherweight title.
