Manipuri MMA sensation Jojo Rajkumari is all set to make her MMA return this week when she takes on Pinoy fighter Mary Jane Buna in a strawweight contest at the Siri Fort on June 25 at Matrix Fight Night 9. The fight is also her co-main event as Jojo looks toward the biggest fights of her career. Jojo Rajkumari is coming off of an amazing submission win over Ishika Thite at MFN 7 which took place in December of 2021. Prior to that, she lost in a very close fought fight to Puja Tomar at MFN 6 in September last year.
Ahead of her first career co-main event, Jojo Rajkumari is highly confident and motivated heading into the fight. 25-year-old Jojo hails from Moirang, a town located south of Imphal and she had an extensive kickboxing career before turning to professional Mixed Martial Arts.
Jojo’s opponent, Mary Jane Buna has a professional MMA record of 4-0. She has had an undefeated run in her career so far and all but one of the fights ended in a decision. In her last fight, she defeated Jonabel Moton via unanimous decision at UGB 35 in the Philippines. Prior to this fight, all her fights ended in the first round. However, inactivity could spell doom for her in this fight as she last fought in December 2019.
Ahead of the fight, The MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Jojo Rajkumari to talk about her upcoming fight.
Interview with Jojo Rajkumari
How are you feeling ahead of the fight?
I feel good. The weight cut was smooth and I didn’t struggle much like how it happened in the past. We hired a professional nutritionist as well. The whole fight camp was well managed by my management team.
What do you know about your opponent Mary?
I don’t know much about my opponent. She is tall & lengthy, that’s the only thing I know.
I’m concentrating on myself more. However, My management has studied her fight videos and we have a good game plan. I didn’t even bother watching her tapes.
Your prediction on how the fight will go?
I’m gonna KO her within 2 Rounds.
