Former UFC Light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been arrested in Las Vegas for misdemeanour battery, domestic violence and felony and injuring and tampering with a vehicle. He was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department the day after he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Famer for his first fight with Alexander Gustafsson. Jones was booked into Clark County Detention Center at 5:45 a.m. local time. Jon came to Vegas for the Hall Of Fame Ceremony on Thursday and just hours after the ceremony got over, early in the Friday morning he was arrested. More news regarding the same will be coming out shortly.

Jon Jones getting arrested is not something new for the MMA fans. In April 2015, Jones was investigated in connection with a hit and run early the previous morning. Jones was alleged to have run a red light and crashed his rental car in a collision involving two other vehicles. Jones allegedly fled the scene of the crash on foot, leaving an injured pregnant woman behind in another vehicle. Jones then turned himself in for that incident and the case went long enough before he was finally released. Dustin that time UFC had stripped Jones of his title.

Jon Jones was also arrested for an incident with a cocktail waitress in 2019. The bench trial of the case was held in September 2019, where Jones pleaded no contest to the charges and received a 90-day deferred sentence whereby he must avoid arrest, not violate the law, consume no alcohol or drugs, and not return to the scene.

Dana White reacts to Jon Jones arrest

After hearing the news of Jon Jones’s arrest, UFC president Dana White gave his honest reaction to the incident and said that he wasn’t surprised about it.

It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas for any reason,” White told reporters on Friday after the UFC 266 ceremonial weigh-ins. “This city is not good for Jon Jones. And here we are again.”

“It’s like it’s not even shocking anymore,” White said. “When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. Can’t even get him into Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man – a lot of demons.”

He continued, “Is it really shocking anymore? It’s really not. It’s become not shocking. It’s almost become, ‘Uh oh, he’s in Vegas again. What’s going to happen today?’ You want to hope the guy is better, and that won’t be the case, but he proves every time he comes to this town that he can’t handle this place.”

Jon Jones was now preparing for his heavyweight debut fight in 2022. He vacated his light-heavyweight championship in 2020.
