Jones (26-1) took to social media on Monday to express interest in a fight against either current heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic or former champion and professional wrestling star Brock Lesnar. Miocic is coming off a title defense against Daniel Cormier earlier this month, while Lesnar is a newly turned free agent from the WWE.
Jon Jones has been making the headlines for quite some time now. He vacated the Light Heavyweight Title, two weeks ago, and after a conundrum of events and dispute over his payout, he decided to climb up the weight class. After passing the threshold of Heavyweight division, he is also in the contention to become the No.1 contender. And now he become the first one to pose a challenge in front of Brock Lesnar.
UFC president Dana White did not immediately return a request for comment on the situation. White previously has said he considers Lesnar retired from mixed martial arts. He also has said Ngannou will receive the next heavyweight title shot against Miocic. Jones apparently picked up on recent news about former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, who recently became a free agent after another stint with the WWE. He’s previously toyed with the idea of a fight against the pro-wrestling champ.
Jon Jones vs Lesnar: A Possibility?
Jones, 33, was once in line to fight Miocic for the heavyweight title. The promotion was discussing a potential superfight between the two at UFC 219 before a positive drug test reversed Jones’ title defense over then-light heavyweight Cormier at UFC 214, resulting in the second stripping of his title. The report stated that since Brock Lesnar’s WWE deal has expired, he’s free to go wherever he wants. It’s no secret that the main alternative to WWE for Brock Lesnar is the UFC.

Brock Lesnar was also speculated to fight Daniel Cormier after the latter defeated Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight title in 2018. But that fell through as Brock Lesnar opted to retire from MMA. With Lesnar reportedly a free agent now and Jon Jones moving up to Heavyweight, he took a shot at Brock Lesnar, saying:

Whether Brock Lesnar decides to return to the Octagon or not, Jon Jones is set to get a major payday for his next fight. He did all there was to do in the Light Heavyweight division and after years of teasing, he’s moving up to Heavyweight.
