Former UFC light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was in contention to be known as The Greatest of All Time after his knockout victory against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. It all changed after he was suspended for anti doping violation by USADA for the second time and was forced to relinquish his title. The 31 year old fighter’s suspension is under resolution after news surfaced of Jones and his manager’s meetings with USADA.
Jon Jones recently met Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson at an event and they had an intense face off sparking rumours of them being the main event for UFC 230. The recent meetings with USADA and the fact that UFC hasn’t yet announced the main event for UFC 230 led to this conclusion in the minds of many MMA fans online. The tickets for UFC 230 go for sale on Friday a day after the press conference between Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, which is where most believe this fight will be announced.
Anthony Johnson and Jon Jones were scheduled to face before at UFC 187, before Jones was involved in a hit and run accident, leaving an opportunity for Daniel Cormier to defeat Rumble for the vacant Light Heavyweight title. Rumble retired after UFC 210 after being defeated by Daniel Cormier for the second time.
It would be interesting to see what the future holds for both Jones and Rumble and whether they will be announced as the main event for UFC 230.
