UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones said that he may be looking forward to moving up to heavyweight division to face the current champion Stipe Miocic.

Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic

Just minutes after UFC 252 wrapped up Jones tweeted that he wants to move up to a heavyweight division and fight for the heavyweight championship against the current champion Stipe Miocic who just defeated Daniel Cormier putting an end to their rivalry in the trilogy fight.

Jon Jones in his tweet stated, “For some reason, these heavyweights don’t seem so big to me tonight.”

“Avoid Stipe’s right hand, I’m too fast, I’ll be too strong when the time is right and have way too much energy. Soon and very soon I’ll be considered the baddest man on this planet.”

Will Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic happen?

Stipe Miocic just ended his two-year-old rivalry with Daniel Cormier that started at UFC 226. Miocic lost the first fight with Cormier at UFC 226 but got to avenge his loss at UFC 241 last August.

They were set to face again at UFC 252 but this time Stipe came well prepared for Cormier. Miocic used his great boxing to land some good shots on DC and also used clinching at the right time to tie up Cormier. In their first and second fight, Cormier did land some great punches on Miocic but this time it was all Miocic went on securing each round after round and ended up getting the unanimous decision win over DC to end the trilogy 2-1.

The next challenger for Stipe Miocic is the No.2 ranked heavyweight in the world Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou. They both had a run into each other when they fought at UFC 220 where Stipe took some big shots from Francis but stayed on his ground and utilized his wrestling and got the decision win.

Francis, later on, went to fight Derek Lewis and wasn’t looking good in that fight and lost that fight too. But since that loss Francis Ngannou has been on a tear with four-devastating KO wins over top heavyweights.

Jon Jones hasn’t fought since February. He has some ongoing issues with the UFC regarding his paychecks. Jones showed interest in fighting Ngannou previously but wanted a huge amount for that fight which UFC declined.

The last fight Jones fought was against Dominick Reyes on February 8, 2020, in the main event of UFC 247. Jones won the fight via controversial unanimous decision. Many media outlets scored the contest for Reyes, while few scored it for Jones. With this win, Jones set the new record for most wins in UFC title fight history with 14 wins. According to many people, the next fight for Jones is the Reyes rematch.

So it’ hard to predict when and how another super-fight between 2 champions might take place. Till then all MMA fans around the world wait for UFC to decide what’s next for Jon Jones. Who do you guys want to see Jones face?
