Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has said that he won’t be going back to his previous Jackson Wink MMA after his coach said that Jones won’t be allowed in the gym unless he quits alcohol. Jon Jones was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on September 24, on charges of misdemeanour battery, domestic violence, and felony injuring and tampering with a vehicle. Later reports came out that he had physically assaulted his fiancee Jessie Moses. Jon Jones was later released on the same day. After the news of his arrest went viral Jon Jones’s coach Mike Winkeljohn told The MMA Hour that Jones will not be allowed to train at the famed Albuquerque, N.M., gym unless he quits drinking.
Jones became the UFC light-heavyweight champion under the banner of Jackson Wink MMA. He was among the young prospects in the gym who later turned into an All-time great UFC fighter. But after his recent actions, Jones’s coach declared that he will be banned from the GYM unless he stops all his bad habits which have got him in trouble.
“I just had a conversation with him,” Winkeljohn said. “I said, ‘Jon, here’s the deal. You’re like my little brother. You have to stop drinking and fix these things for a certain period of time until you come back to the gym.’
“So at the moment, he’s out of the gym. He’s not allowed to come in the gym. I felt like I had to do that, because ignoring it and expecting different results, as they say, is insanity. He’s got a lot of yes people around him that won’t tell him the truth. He might hate me for it, but I’ll tell him the truth.”(H/T- MMAfighting.com)
Winkeljohn said the ex-champ “was disappointed” in the decision and “hoping we could talk it out,” but added, “we’ve done that before in the past.”
Jon Jones says he won’t be training at Jackson Wink MMA
Jon in his recent tweets opened up about his current status as a fighter and where he is looking forward to training. He was asked by a Twitter user about his old gym to which he replied by saying that he is not planning to go back there.
I don’t feel like I carried the team, we have lots of guys doing amazing things out of that gym. I will admit the program isn’t at the level it used to be, and hasn’t been for a while now https://t.co/hs8rAEgWz5

definitely won’t be going back but I will continue to root for all the fighters that are training there. I do believe my training methods and sessions have improved significantly since changing environments. Grateful for all the time I got to spend there, everything has its time

I know I won’t be able to train in my garage forever, eventually I’m going to need more training partners. Mainly wrestling partners and kickboxers. I’m on the lookout for teams that I’ll be able to visit and come train with, maybe get some sparring sessions in.
