For years MMA fans had wondered what has made the UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones so good at fighting and what exactly is his thought process when it comes to fighting. About a week ago, Jones finally after all these years, had let us all in on his mental approach to fighting in a recent interview before UFC 239. Now after his bout against Thiago Santos at UFC 239, Jones has again reaffirmed and revealed what makes him so good and better than the rest at fighting.
Jones fought the Brazilian Santos in the main event of UFC 239. The earlier rounds of the fight saw Santos have a bit of success, something which was completely unexpected before the bout. Eventually, Jones came back strong and won the fight on the judges’ scorecards via a rather controversial split decision.
The close nature of the fight prompted JBJ to remind everyone why Santos could not defeat him. Jones took to Twitter and proclaimed that it does not matter how much punching power someone has got. It is instead about being skilled enough to land the punch.
Here’s what he Tweeted:
It’s not about having punching power, it’s about being skilled enough to land the punch.
