UFC 247 featured a controversial unanimous decision as champ Jon Jones was able to get the nod over previously undefeated Dominick Reyes.
Even though one judge scored four rounds in the favour of Reyes, the fight was certainly close than the scorecards reflected. In fact many people of the MMA community believed Reyes had done enough to secure a win over P4P #1 ranked Jones.
That being said, Reyes has been eyeing for a rematch ever since. However he believes, Jones isn’t ready for another ‘dog fight’ with him.
“I know the UFC is on board,” Reyes said. “I know I’m on board. The issue is Jon right now. He’s going to say he’s down online, obviously on Twitter. When he gets those contracts in front of him, he’s a little different. That’s where we’re at.”
“It was a straight dog fight, brother,” Reyes added. “The last fight was a pure dog fight. I don’t think he wants to do that again. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t think Jon Jones wants these hands again. He doesn’t want to get in this dog fight with me. That’s where we’re at.”
Jones took to Twitter to dismiss the Dominick Reyes rematch. Instead he hinted a fight against top contender Jan Blachowicz. (via Twitter):
Now suddenly I’m afraid of a good dogfight? Pretty sure I walked him down for 25 minutes straight when we fought. One thing about being the champion of the world, you got to search for fresh meat on every soil. I’m feeling like popping some 🍒 in Poland, haven’t had that yet. pic.twitter.com/frnLyFUkN1

Blachowicz knocked out another top contender Corey Anderson in a virtual title eliminator. He quickly called for his shot to Jones who was at the attendance.
Reyes came out guns blazing in the first three rounds but lost steam in the championship rounds. Jones, who obviously has more experience in the championship rounds, clearly won the fourth and fifth rounds. The dispute seems to have been on the second round. Also the judging on the earlier fights of the card was egregious, which added to the controversy of the decision.
