Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones seems to be not happy with UFC and has asked UFC to release him.Jon Jones joins Conor McGregor in mocking UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov's retirement - before deleting Instagram post

Just over three years after he fell short in his first bid to win the heavyweight title from Miocic, the 6-foot-4 human wrecking machine finally exacted revenge with a vicious second-round knockout Saturday at UFC 260. Ngannou showed drastic improvements from the initial meeting with better takedown defense and, just as importantly, the patience it took to set up his strikes before finding the opening to put Miocic away.

As for Ngannou, he knew going into the fight with Miocic at UFC 260 that a win would likely put him on a path towards a showdown against former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who was previously declared the No. 1 contender in the division.

Jones has been preparing for a move to heavyweight for several months and despite an ongoing war of words with UFC President Dana White over his financial demands to make the fight happen, Ngannou certainly hopes that is what awaits him next.

“Well, I think Jon Jones makes more sense for me but either way, I’m going to fight,” Ngannou said. “If Jon Jones doesn’t come to heavyweight, the division has to move. As the new heavyweight champion, I decided to move on, but more activity in the division than [Stipe] has been in the past two or three years.

“I might be the champ but I don’t make the call. I’m just a fighter. So the UFC decides what happens. But for what I want or what I like, yes, I would like that [fight with Jon Jones].”

Jon Jones not happy with UFC

Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC) has made it clear he wants to be paid more than his current rate to take the superfight with Ngannou (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC), which would likely generate big bucks for the promotion. While UFC president Dana White joked after this past weekend’s UFC 260 that Jones could call him that night and get the matchup booked, “Bones” seemed to indicate things aren’t progressing as hoped in a further series of messages.

Jon’s latest statement comes in the wake of a battle with UFC President Dana White after he initially tweeted “show me the money” following Francis Ngannou becoming heavyweight champion with a second-round knockout over Stipe Miocic this past weekend.

The message was obviously about a proposed showdown with Ngannou after Jones was promised the next title shot after he vacated his 205-pound belt to pursue a second championship at heavyweight.

White scoffed at that message when firing back at Jones’ demands for a bigger payday to make the Ngannou fight happen.

“Listen, I can sit here all day and tell you, what’s show me the money mean?” White said at the UFC 260 post-fight press conference. “I tell you guys this all the time. You can say you want to fight somebody, but do you want to?”

Whatever the matter is it seems like the offer made by UFC is not at all what Jones expected. All MMA fans hope that both Jones and Dana White squash their beef and come on the same page for this amazing matchup between Francis Ngannou and Jon Jone for the Heavyweight championship of the world.
