Former two time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has dropped massive hints about his much awaited Heavyweight debut, teasing his return to the Octagon this 10th December at UFC 282 in Las Vegas.
On his second title reign, Jon Jones defended his 105-pound belt three times, with a unanimous decision win over Dominick Reyes in his last outing in the cage at UFC 247 in 2020 February, few months before he vacated the title.

“Bones” has been out of action since then and has bulked up to make his heavyweight debut, as well as called for a title shot against reigning UFC Heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou. Unfortunately, the fight never officially materialized as Jones and UFC never came to terms regarding the negotiations.
Jon Jones wants to make his “first heavyweight title fight” look like his “first light heavyweight title fight”
Amidst speculations that Jones will make his heavyweight debut against former titlist Stipe Miocic in an interim title fight, sans any official statement from the promotion, Jones took to Twitter to claim that his heavyweight debut is set to happen at UFC 282 this 10th December at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.

“My goal, my dream is to have my first heavyweight title fight look like my first light heavyweight title fight. Pure domination,” Jones wrote in a series of tweets.
The last of the three tweets Jones made was a reference to his first UFC Light Heavyweight title fight against MaurĂcio Rua aka ‘Shogun’ at UFC 128, in which Jones won the belt via 3rd round TKO.
While Jones implies that he will achieve the same result in his first Heavyweight title shot, there’s doubt on whether that actually happens as Ngannou is currently on recovery from a knee surgery, added with the disagreement between Jones and the promotion over the fight purse, making Miocic as the more probable option.
So far, the only bout officially announced for UFC 282 is a welterweight contest between Robbie Lawler and Santiago Ponzinibbio. Word is in the air that a rematch between reigning Light Heavyweight champ Jiri Prochazka and former champ Glover Teixeira is also being targeted for the event.
