Jon Jones vows to donate $100k to charity if any light heavyweight gets six title defenses

Jon Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion after vacating his belt issued a challenge of $100,000 for the next champion.

On August 18, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones vacated his UFC light heavyweight championship and stated that he is moving up to heavyweight division. Jones took the twitter world by storm after his tweets regarding the UFC.

After letting the MMA world know that he is no longer the champ he decided to raise the stakes high for the next guy who becomes the champion. Jones said he would like the new light heavyweight to defend the belt as many times as he did and if they do, he says he will donate $100,000 to the charity of the new champion’s liking.

Jones in his all recent tweets said “First light heavyweight to win six championships in a row I’ll pay $100,000 to whatever charity of their liking. I’ll be waiting”

“Was going to challenge a light heavyweight to beat my world championship record but we all know that’s probably not happening in this lifetime.”

“Seriously, I challenge you guys to go out there and be great too. It’s going to be awesome watching with that cheeseburger in my hand.”

Will the next champion be as dominant as Jon Jones?

The last fight Jones fought was against Dominick Reyes on February 8, 2020, in the main event of UFC 247. Jones won the fight via controversial unanimous decision. Many MMA fans around the world believed that the rematch with Dominick Reyes would be next for Jones. But as Jones has vacated the belt it seems like the division has to find its new king soon.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in his tweet said “Breaking: A 205-pound fight between Dominick Reyes (@DomReyes) and Jan Blachowicz (@JanBlachowicz) is in the works for Sept. 26. The fight is nearly agreed to, but the stakes are being worked out. UFC is working with current champ Jon Jones right now to figure out his next move.

If Reyes vs. Blachowicz ends up being for a title, I wouldn’t IMMEDIATELY assume it’s Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic next. Maybe. That’s a big fight. But hasn’t been discussed yet, far as I know. They’re figuring 205 out right now. Francis Ngannou still very relevant at HWT.

According to the reports, if this fight does happen the winner could be the next light heavyweight champion. Whoever the new champ be he will also get $100k for his charity work as issued by the former champion Jones only if he defends the belt six-times. But it will take a Hercules effort to defend the light heavyweight championship that many times.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto also reported that  Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson will re-enter the UFC’s mandatory drug testing program this week in anticipation of a comeback, per his manager Ali Abdelaziz.

There are a lot of rumours, speculations, and reports about what’s next in the light heavyweight division of the UFC. So until UFC makes some official announcement all the MMA fans around the globe will be eagerly waiting for whats’s next?
