Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones is rumored to be returning to the octagon this July and might be fighting against former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. According to the latest news surfacing, The UFC is trying its level best to make this highly intriguing matchup between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. The fight has been in discussion for a while now but the UFC hadn’t announced it yet, now according to the sources the fight is set to be a done deal as the contracts are about to be sent to the fighters.
Now the fight news came into the limelight after UFC President Dana White talked about the fight and revealed a timeline for it.
“I was just telling somebody the other day, our lineup for this summer is incredible,” White said. “So I’m hoping Jon Jones is going to be part of that lineup this summer. … Stipe makes sense.”
Jon Jones hasn’t been actively fighting for the last two years. Jon Jones last fought in 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes and defended his lightweight title. Jones Jones then vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and stated that he will be moving up to the heavyweight division to fight for the title. He has been in talks with UFC for the past two years but they haven’t been able to come to a deal.
Recently Jon Jones had hinted that he wants to fight the greatest heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic.

Stipe Miocic in one of his latest interviews had stated his interest in fighting Jon Jones. Stipe Miocic lost his title against Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 and hasn’t fought since.
“I would have loved to have been asked,” Miocic said about the interim title fight snub when appearing on The MMA Hour. “I feel like I understand what the UFC’s doing, it’s a business, but at the same time I think that I deserved a trilogy fight.”
“I wasn’t even asked for the interim fight. Who knows if I would have taken it but just it would have been nice to be asked. Just toes in the water. I don’t know [if I would have taken it]. We don’t know. It’s over with.”
“Listen, I’m used to it,” Miocic said. “It is what it is. It’s business. I get it but at the same time, I feel like I was deserving of a trilogy fight. Everyone else has gotten one but me.”
The fight makes sense considering the level of fighters they both are and also it would make perfect sense for the heavyweight division as there isn’t a new challenger for the heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou.
