Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones has proposed a fight against the former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Jon Jones is preparing for his much anticipated heavyweight debut which is getting postponed time and time after. Jon Jones last fought in 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes and defended his lightweight title. Jon Jones then had a dispute with UFC President Dana White over a pay issue in May 2020, Jones Jones then vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and stated that he will be moving up to the heavyweight division to fight for the title.

Jon Jones was linked with a heavyweight matchup against Francis Ngannou but due to the over-extended negotiation process, the fight never got done and was off the discussion. Ngannou has now recently defended his title against then-interim champion Ciryl Gane. Francis Ngannou had won the heavyweight title after defeating Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 by knockout.

Jones is not yet assigned to fight anyone for his heavyweight debut. Now in his recent Twitter post, he has called out the former two-time heavyweight champion and arguably the greatest UFC heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic.

“The greatest heavyweight of all time versus the greatest light heavyweight, who wants to see it? I’m game”

The fight technically does make sense considering their past accolades and the current division standings. As Jon Jones said, Stipe Miocic is the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. He has defended the title more times than anyone. He is also a two-time champion. Has defeated the likes of Daniel Cormier (twice), Francis Ngannou, Junior Dos Santos, Werdum, Overeem, etc.

Considering the state of the UFC heavyweight division, the talent it represents, Stipe Miocic is the only guy who can give Jon Jones a real good challenge. Stipe Miocic in his last conversation had expressed his will to fight Jones.

I’m down,” Miocic said about fighting Jones. “I don’t think he wanted it. I don’t know the whole story but I’m down. Then he wants a title shot. I know he’s done well, he’s probably one of the greatest of all time but you’ve still got to wait your order. That’s like me going to light heavyweight and being like I want a shot.”
