Jorge Masvidal arrested on aggravated battery and criminal mischief charges

UFC BMF Jorge Masvidal has been arrested for his recent attack on his arch-rival Colby Covington. Two days back, Jorge Masvidal attacked Colby Covington outside a Miami Restaurant. He was wearing a surgical mask and a hoodie and he landed too hard shots on Colby, one on his jaw and one on his teeth. The Miami Beach Police Department had opened an investigation into an alleged physical altercation between UFC fighters Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington following reports and the video of the incident that occurred Monday night outside a popular restaurant. Now according to the latest reports, Jorge Masvidal has been arrested.

Yesterday, in a police report obtained given out to the media, the MBPD confirmed responding to an incident labeled as a felony battery outside Papi Steak. The reports have stated that the charges have not been applied on Masvidal yet but if Colby Covington cooperates with the police then the charges might get filed on Masvidal.

Now, just 48 hours later, Jorge Masvidal has been arrested by the police. Masvidal was detained by Miami-Dade county police Wednesday evening and booked at 10:27 p.m. local time, according to online records. News of Masvidal’s arrest was first reported by WPLG Local 10 News. Masvidal has been charged with a count of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and one count of criminal mischief. He is currently being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on a $15,000 bond.

If found guilty, Masvidal could face up to 15 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine for second-degree felony aggravated battery with additional penalties possible from the criminal mischief charge.

A video published by WPLG showed that Jorge Masvidal was jogging while getting into the station.

At UFC 272, Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington went toe-to-toe with each other for five rounds. Colby Covington used his elite wrestling to nullify Masvidal’s wrestling. Colby Covington won the fight via decision. Masvidal after losing that fight was pretty much straightforward to answer that he might not back away if he sees Colby in the streets.

“Ah f*cking, like I said none of it is personal but it just sucks because this idiot talked about my kids, you know? He’s still somebody if I see him out in the streets I’m gonna give him everything I got to break his f*cking jaw, you know? It doesn’t matter if I lost wrestling scrambles tonight. I still think he’s a f*cking p*ssy, you know?”
