UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal has issued a fiery response to divisional champion Leon Edwards asking him to get on his knees and beg for a title shot.
The two 170-pound icons, although never met in the Octagon, have a history. Back in 2019, Masvidal and Edwards were involved in an altercation backstage at a UFC London event, with the occasional exchange of verbal abhorrence.
Now, while ‘Gamebred’ is on a three fight losing streak, ‘Rocky’ pulled off a shocker after defeating Kamaru Usman to become the new UFC Welterweight champion at UFC 278 in August.
Afterward, Masvidal challenged Edwards for a title shot.
Speaking to MMA Fighting in a recent interview, Masvidal commented that in his opinion, he deserves another chance at the 170-pound throne and called out Edwards to step up to the plate/
“Leon, f**king step up to the plate, bro. You begged and cried and did all this bullsh*t before when I was fighting for the titles. Now you got the belt, let’s go!” said Masvidal.
In his response, Edwards told him to get on his knees and beg for it.
“refer to me as “Mr Edwards” or “Sir” and get on your knees and beg and I may consider it,” he tweeted.

Getting air of Edwards’ statement, the ‘BMF’ champion issued his response.
“I’ve never gotten on my knees and begged anyone for anything. If your lifestyle is to get on your knees for stuff that’s on you, I’m not judging. Accept the fight, get this payday, get your rematch and get your face broken at the same time. It’s a no-brainer dummy,” Masvidal wrote.
