After dropping a unanimous decision on less than a week’s notice to Usman at UFC 251 in Abu Dhabi, Masvidal will get his chance at redemption with a full training camp when they headline UFC 261 on April 24 at the sold-out VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Now Jorge Masvidal has already laid out plans for his future as he is getting into the fight promotional business. Masvidal (35-14 MMA, 15-8 UFC) announced on Instagram the launch of Gamebred Fighting Championship, a bare-knuckle MMA promotion. The first event is planned for June 25 in Miami. No venue or lineup has been announced. Puerto Rican rapper and singer Anuel AA is partnering with Masvidal for his new business venture. Every fighter who competes for the promotion will be outfitted by Anuel AA’s clothing brand.

The new promotion has inked a one-year broadcast deal with Bare Knuckle TV, which will exclusively air its content, a person with knowledge of operations told MMA Fighting. Additionally, bouts will be contested under the unified rules of MMA. Fighters who sign with the promotion will have a clause in their contracts that allows them to sign with the UFC if they receive an offer.

The promotion also plans to travel. In states where bare-knuckle isn’t legal, the person said, the promotion plans to put on regular MMA events. Jorge show joins a growing field of bare-knuckle promoters, including the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, which has run several bare-knuckle boxing events in the state.

Masvidal’s manager, Ibrahim Kawa, who will be involved with the Gamebred Fighting Championship operations in some capacity, provided additional details to MMA Junkie following Thursday’s UFC 261 pre-fight news conference at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

“Anuel has a saying: ‘Real hasta la Muerte,’ which basically means, ‘Real until I die,’” Kawa said. “That resonates with Jorge and the brand that Jorge is trying to make. … We’re looking forward to a lot of blood, gore, and finding the best fighters out there who are going to make it.

“… If you guys are looking for something a little bit different, just imagine what they do without gloves. That’s kind of the idea. Better grappling. Better striking. We assume there’s going to be better finishes.”
