Jorge Masvidal reveals for how much longer he will fight

Jorge  Masvidal’s career and popularity have skyrocketed in the past six months. At age 34 it seems that the best phase of his career is yet to come.

Next up for him is a fight with Nate Diaz for the BMF belt. Masvidal now stands at the cusp of reaching greater heights in his career. A win over Till, Askren and Diaz in the same year is not bad at all for a guy who hadn’t headlined a card before this year.

However, despite being at such unprecedented levels of stardom Masvidal has a proper plan for his future, which includes his retirement plans as well. Masvidal talked to SportsCenter on Thursday and revealed when he wants to go out from the sport.

“This year is going to be a great year, next year is going to be even better,” Masvidal said.

“I got about four years left in me,” he added.

Before his win over Till, Masvidal was given the tag of a journeyman. In the same interview he stressed upon the fact about how he has lost many close split decisions. He even thought that some of them were robberies. But eventually found the solution, and that is – not to let the fight go to the judges scorecards.

“When I went back and examined all of  my loses. I wondered if I just took the judges out of the equation, which sounds easier than it is, then I wouldn’t be getting all these decisions. That’s all my mind has been on, is eliminating people off the planet earth. I wanna make sure that I am separated from the pack, so that when they close the book on me, there is talk about me and what i did to my peers” he said.

Following the same strategy against Diaz won’t be easy for “Gamebred”. Known for his iron chin, Diaz has only been knocked once in his professional career. That was against Josh Thomson back in 2013. If Masvidal is able to stop the Stockton native then an array of opportunities will be opening up for him. That may include a money fight with McGregor or a title fight for the 170 pound belt.
