Jose Aldo suffered a unanimous decision loss to Alex Volkanovski at UFC 237 which took place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil last Sunday.
He got thoroughly outboxed throughout the fight and was comfortably beaten by Volkanovski. He took to Instagram to release a statement about his loss at UFC 237 where he made no excuses about his loss.

“But I’ve never fought so badly in my life,” Aldo wrote (translated by MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz). “No excuses because that’s not who I am, but I know what I can do and I know my talent, and I can’t do that. Not taking the merits away from my opponent, he did his fight, but I’m upset with myself, and I transfer (all the blame) to myself.”
This was also Aldo’s first ever loss of his career in a three-round fight. He earlier said that he plans to leave UFC by the end of 2019 as he still has one more fight left in his contract. He will return again on November 16th in Brazil.
Before his loss to Volkanovski, he was on a two-fight winning streak having beaten Renato Carneiro and Jeremy Stephens via TKO. Meanwhile, Volkanovski maintains his seven-fight undefeated winning streak in the UFC.
