Julia Avila (9-2) is putting efforts both inside and outside of the Octagon to make ends meet, as the UFC bantamweight contender revealed that she has been forced to take up a second job, aside from being a part of the top promotion’s roster.
Being a part of the UFC, it’s a dream come true. But it is a temporary dream: Julia Avila
A former Invicta FC, HD MMA, XKO MMA, Total Warrior Combat and King of the Cage (KOTC) fighter, Julia Avila joined the UFC in 2019 and so far, has gone 3-1 in the Octagon. She was last seen in action against Julija Stoliarenko at UFC Vegas 30 in June last year, in which the ‘Raging Panda’ marked a submission victory.
Unfortunately, the 34-year-old’s career has been rough. So far, she has had 10 of her bouts cancelled, aside from having to take time off due to pregnancy. And now, in a series of posts on Twitter, Avila revealed that she has been forced to take up a second job.
Even though the 34-year-old feels that she doesn’t get the appreciation she deserves at times, she also admits that the pay is great if one is able to fight and also that she enjoys being in the UFC.
Fighter pay is great when you have a fight; I had 9 cancelled fights one year and since my injury 2021, I had to get a job to make ends meet and have insurance to cover my pregnancy. I love being a part of the UFC, it’s a dream come true. But it is a temporary dream.

Often times you have to choose between having a career, being in a relationship, being a mother, OR follow your dreams to being in the best fight circuit ever. Even then, sometimes you just don’t feel appreciated (as a woman) because you don’t show skin or talk trash

I love being in the UFC. I love fighting for the fans and putting on a show, but it’s a dog and pony show. I’m just as replaceable as anyone else on the roster and fans will be none the wiser. That’s the hardest pill to swallow.
