Reigning UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena did shock the mixed martial arts scene when she defeated former champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 269, but she believes its none other than the UFC president Dana White who was unhappy at the result.

Pena, who is the first woman to win The Ultimate Fighter, emerged as a contender to the Women’s Bantamweight throne, the division which was ruled by Nunes for years. Entering the fight as a massive underdog, many expected Pena to be another title defense in Nunes’ five year long title reign.
However, the T-Mobile Arena on 11th December decpited a different story. Pena overpowered Nunes with heavy blows right from the start, before locking in a rear naked choke in the second round to pull off a shocker of a victory and clinch the Bantamweight title.
Pena’s win had surprised millions of MMA fans, but “The Venezuelan Vixen” believes it was Dana White who was dejected at the result, as it was his “golden goose” Nunes who lost that night.
“I think he has, yeah. But, I also think that you know, he’s a little bit bummed that his little golden goose got tapped out. Of course, it’s so much better for them financially to have this girl who’s never been beaten in seven years, never been tapped out, never lost, and has belts in two weight classes, she’s fought the who’s who of the division and she’s slayed all those giants,” Pena said in an interview with Barstool Chicago.
“Of course, they’re not thinking I have a chance and they want her to win because it looks better for the promotion, it looks better for the UFC. They weren’t expecting to me to win. I literally looked at them after the fight and all of their jaws are to the floor. I was like, sorry to ruin your day guys, sorry but what am I going to do? It’s not anything that’s rigged by any means it’s up to the individual,” the champ added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
