A heavy handed slugfest is headed to Moscow as former heavyweight champion and #3 ranked ‘Cigano’ Junior Dos Santos will enter enemy territory to take on #6 ranked Alexander Volkov at UFC Moscow on November 9.
Dos Santos might be participating in the Brazilian version of ‘Dancing with the stars’ however has already plotted a blueprint for another title run. Dos Santos (21-6 MMA, 15-5 UFC) was cruising towards an another title shot riding an impressive three-fight winning streak. However that had him going on against former title challenger and powerhouse Francis ‘The Predator’ Ngannou. Dos Santos over extended an overhand right, only to find himself lying on the canvas.
Volkov (30-7 MMA, 4-1 UFC) on the other hand had a similar timeline. Volkov was on his way towards the title as well with an impressive four fight winning streak before bumping into former title challenger Derrick Lewis. Volkov dominated that fight for the most parts as well before getting knocked out with only 11 seconds remaining in the fight at UFC 229 back in October 2018. Volkov hasn’t fought ever since.
Volkov was scheduled to fight another former title challenger in Alistair Overeem at Fight Night 149 in April however pulled out of the bout. Volkov would like to get back into title contention as well.
