UFC Fight Night 133, a.k.a. UFC Boise just got even more interesting. The fight card of this particular Fight Night event was widely expected to be star-studded and highly enthralling. However, the UFC management has not openly revealed the a lot of the potential fights taking place at this card. Only two fights had been disclosed till now, a women’s flyweight bout and a men’s flyweight bout. Though, in a recent turn of events the UFC have now officially confirmed another bout for this amazing fight card, i.e. a bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and former World Series of Fighting champion, Blagoy Ivanov.
UFC Fight Night 133 is scheduled to take place on July 14, 2018, a week after UFC 226, at the Century Link Arena in Boise, Idaho, United States of America. The event will be the first UFC event held in Idaho and will be aired on Fox Sports 1. The fight between popular heavyweights Junior Dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov will serve as the official main-event of the evening.
The Brazilian ‘Cigano’ has been consistently alternating wins and losses since he lost the UFC heavyweight title to former champion Cain Velasquez at UFC 155 in one of the best heavyweight fights of all time. He last fought and lost against the current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in a rematch at UFC 211 via TKO due to punches in the first round.
On the other hand, Ivanov has been highly consistent and has been putting onstrong, dominant performances. He has a MMA record of 16-1 (1). His only defeat came at the hands of Alexander Volkov at Bellator 120 via submission due to a rear-naked choke in the second round. Since then he has been on a five win streak and will be making his octagon debut against JDS at UFC Boise.
There had been a lot of hearsay about a potential fight between the duo. Noted MMA journalist Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting confirmed the match-up on Monday following an earlier report by ESPN. The UFC too later officially confirmed the fight as a headliner for UFC Fight Night 133.
