Justin Gaethje dislikes Colby Covington, but says he is a good fighter

UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje might not like Colby Covington as a person but he definitely admits that Colby Covington is a really good fighter. Justin Gaethje is the training partner of UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Kamaru Usman is getting ready to face his arch-rival Colby Covington in their rematch at UFC 268. Since Gaethje is the training partner of Usman he was asked about Colby Covington to which Gaethje responded immediately saying that he dislikes Colby Covington. But Gaethje also admitted at the end that he knows that Colby Covington is a really good fighter.

Speaking to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in a recent interview, Gaethje said the following about Covington.

“I dislike Colby like so much, so I wanna see Kamaru Usman really put it on him. But Covington’s a damn good fighter, that little f*ck. Piece of sh*t person but he’s a good fighter,” Gaethje admitted.

Justin Gaethje at the moment is preparing for one of his toughest matchups. He is scheduled to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 268. He will be fighting on the same card where Usman will be defending his title against Covington. The fight against Michael Chandler is a very important fight for Gaethje as a win over Chandler who is the former title challenger can give Justin Gaethje another shot at the title.

Justin Gaethje on Michael Chandler

In one of his recent interviews, Justin Gaethje talked about Michael Chandler and his game plan going into their highly anticipated fight at UFC 268.

“The dude comes to fight,” Gaethje told The Schmo. “He loves fighting just as much as me. Styles make matchups, and this is a stylistic matchup for the fans. Someone’s going to get knocked out – unless he turns into a b*tch and tries to turn this into a wrestling match the whole time. He’s talking about timid souls taking a step backwards. He’s going to be a timid soul when he starts shooting for legs because he doesn’t like the power. That’s what I think.”

“Absolutely, I go out there and get the ‘dub’ on Nov. 6, and I will be fighting the winner of Poirier and Oliveira,” Gaethje said. “That’s definitely the plan. No. 1 fought No. 5, No. 3 fought No. 4, and if you were No. 2 you got f*cked. And it just so happened that my name was next to that No. 2 spot. So it is what it is. The opportunity is ahead of me to get what I want, so I’ve got to capitalize.”
