It is often said that sports is for everyone. No matter who you are, rich or poor, man or woman, you will find your heart inclined towards a particular sport. In the case of the famous one handed MMA fighter, Nick Newell, this is particularly true. He has an undying love and passion for all sorts of combat sports, amateur wrestling and MMA. “Notorious” has had his heart set out at fighting in the UFC for a long time now. He recently claimed that he is one of the best fighters that aren’t currently signed by the UFC. However, he has now received support from his former opponent and rival Justin Gaethje. “The Highlight” tweeted in support of Newell and claimed that the LFA fighter deserves a shot in the UFC.

Justin Gaethje has vouched for his former opponent.

The American has a MMA record of 14-1 and is truly one of the best fighters outside of the UFC. He had lost his undefeated record to Gaethje back in 2014, when he lost to “The Highlight” via TKO due to punches in the second round at WSOF 11. He then recovered well from the loss and is currently on a three fight win streak. “Notorious” is also highly adept at utilising submissions and has nine wins via submission to his credit.

‘Notorious’ Newell had previously demanded a UFC shot for himself. Here’s what he had said:

I’m one of the best fighters in the world, and I belong in the UFC, that’s it. That’s final. I gave you 14 reasons why I belong in the UFC. I’m one of the best fighters in the world, and I’ve proved it 14 times.

Gaethje has now come out in support of his former opponent. He vouched for Newell with the following tweet:

I believe @NotoriousNewell deserves a shot. This sport hurts and it is unforgiving, much like some mma fans and critics. He will get hurt and lose like the the rest of us, it will not be because he is lacking in skill or suffering from a disability but because we are #Gladiators
