Demian Maia feels Kamaru Usman is a future champion – but that Woodley wins at UFC 235

UFC 235 has added a mouth-watering clash where UFC welterweight champion Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley will defend his title against another top contender in his division Kamaru ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 2nd March.

However, both Woodley and Usman have one thing in common and that is they both have defeated former title challenger Demian Maia. The Brazilian is regarded as the greatest grappler of all time and he lost three of his last four outings.

He was asked to weigh in on the upcoming title fight between Tyron Woodley and Kamaru Usman. The former title challenger praised Kamaru Usman, but he feels that Woodley will beat him at UFC 235. Although he also said that Usman is a very well-rounded guy and will be champion some day.

It’s an extremely tough fight to call,” Maia said. “To be coherent with what I’ve said, I believe that Woodley, for all that he’s shown, is a slight favourite. But I have a feeling, I don’t know why – I mean, I do know why, because I fought him. (Usman) is a very well-rounded guy. Aggressive at the right times, but he also knows how to apply the rules. I think Usman will still be champion. I don’t know if it’s now, or within one year, I believe he will be champion someday.”

Do you guys agree with Demian Maia?
