Kamaru Usman responds to Jorge Masvidal’s ‘I’m gonna break his face’ comment

UFC 246 has changed a lot of dynamics, particularly at the welterweight division. More and more people are viewing Conor as the potential cash cow that can give them their big pay day. Jorge Masvidal had openly accepted that he would prefer a Conor McGregor match up over a title shot against Kamaru Usman because of the money involved.

But Jorge changed his mind after Conor didn’t show any inclination towards fighting him. Speaking recently on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, ‘Gamebred’ made it clear that if Conor doesn’t want to fight him, then he wouldn’t force the same. He said that he has instead shifted his attention towards Kamaru Usman.

“He don’t want the fight so I don’t give a f*ck no more,” Masvidal said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “I’m moving on from that fight. This dude didn’t want the fight. I’m not here to bully. I guess it’s Usman’s head. He sealed Usman’s fate now.”

“I would take a lot more pleasure in dismantling Usman’s face than I would Conor’s, I would have a sincere joy inside of me like a kid on Christmas opening numerous gifts if Usman was the dude that I got to baptize. There is something about his face. I don’t like it, it doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t like his attitude either.”

The comment about breaking his face didn’t sit very well with Usman. He took to Twitter to give a reply to the ‘Emerging fighter of the year 2019’.

Usman was referring to his last victory over Colby Covington. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ had broken Colby’s jaw with a right hand.

The most fight to make in the welterweight division is between Masvidal and Usman. The former has had a stellar year in 2019 and looked amazing after having a long career behind him in mixed martial arts. With other top contenders such as Leon Edwards already booked to fight Tyron Woodley, there are no deserving opponents for the welterweight champ other than Masvidal.

Usman is currently healing an injury but has made it clear that he will be able to fight whenever the UFC needs him.
