UFC Strawweight Karolina Kowalkiewicz was interviewed by MMANews Live recently. In the interview, the Polish fighter provided her take on Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s weight cut controversy and claimed that the whole thing felt like a ‘big fake’.
Joanna had fired her nutrition team after her defeat to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217 and claimed that a botched weight cut was the reason behind her loss.
“She puts the blame on her dietary team? Does Joanna have no reason? If Joanna saw that she had too much weight to cut, then . . . I don’t know. I don’t understand. In my opinion, this is just one big fake.” Karolina said.
A former opponent of Joanna, Karolina also mentioned that weight cut is not pleasant for any fighter and went on to reveal that she will be rallying behind Rose for the upcoming title fight at UFC 223 between Joanna and Rose.
“I just like her more as a person. I always look on who I like, who I know better and that’s why I’m with Rose. Joanna is my compatriot, but privately she is not a nice person. In every interview, when a journalist asks her about me, she goes after me as much as possible and offends me.” Karolina mentioned.
Currently coming off a win against Jodie Esquibel, Karolina will be in action against Felice Herrig at UFC 223 next.
