Just a couple of days back, welterweight kingpin Tyron Woodley expressed his desire of moving up to middleweight after he has cleared the welterweight division. However his comments have now generated multiple ripples in the MMA community.

While he was on Ariel Helwani’s MMA show, Woodley revealed that his plans for 2019 include title defenses against Usman and Covington, and then possibly a jump up to middleweight to chase a second title. However the latter didn’t sit very well with the man next in line for a shot at the  middleweight title.

Kelvin Gastelum wasted no time in mocking Woodley’s plan and took to Twitter in order to ridicule him.

Woodley’s long time friend and training partner and fomer ONE Championship and Bellator champion immediately came to his friend’s rescue.

Askeren was of course referring to the fight between Gastelum and Woodley at UFC 183 where despite missing weight by a margin of 10 pounds, Gastelum dropped the fight in a split decision loss.

Woodley is set to defend his title against No. 2 ranked contender Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 in Las Vegas while Gastelum will meet Robert Whittaker for the middleweight gold at UFC 235.
