The ‘Kerala Krusher’ Rahul Raju, who fought Garry Tonon in a closely contested fight, succumbed to a picture perfect rear naked choke (RNC) by the American grappler in the 3rd round of the bout.

The lightweight bout took place at the One championship: Reign of Kings event at Manila. The top Indian prospect showed phenomenal resilience against the jiu-jitsu wizard and escaped multiple submission attempts including two heel hooks and a triangle. The submission specialist Tonon tried throwing a variety of strikes and a few high kicks before taking resort to the ground game, where his strength lay.

Raju surprised the fight world by making it impossible for the ace grappler to get a submission in the first two rounds.
