Keri Melendez defeated Dakota Zimmerman last day at Bellator 206 to improve her professional record to 3-0. The win came for Melendez via a split decision and it’s something that disappointed her.
In the post-fight interview, Melendez talked about her disappointment.
“I thought I got the win. I was confident I got the win. I was surprised it was a split decision. I didn’t have the best performance, but I definitely thought I was the winner. I almost wasn’t going to make it to this fight, so just pulling through and getting the ‘W’ and going all three rounds, getting that experience in the cage was crucial to me. I’m happy about it,” she said. (via MMA Junkie)
Melendez made her debut back at Bellator 165 in November 2016. In her first fight, she defeated Sheila Padilla via a first-round TKO. She then secured a first-round submission win over Tiani Valle at Bellator 201 earlier this year as well.
This was her third fight in the promotion and it was the first time that her fight went the distance.
