Kevin Lee reveals he has agreed to UFC 249 bout; waiting on Islam Makhachev to sign contract

A mouthwatering lightweight match-up between Kevin Lee and Islam Makhachev is in works for UFC 249, which is set to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 18.

The news was first reported by Helen Yee of Eyes on the Game.

“Kevin Lee tells me his next fight offered will be against Islam Mackhachev in the Khabib vs Tony Ferguson card in April in Brooklyn. According to Kevin, they’re waiting on Islam and not sure what the holdup is. Interview coming shortly.” Helen Yee tweeted.

Islam called Lee out last month after the Mo-Town phenom knocked out Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244.

Kevin Lee later stated in a post-fight interview at UFC 244 that he would love to fight Islam Makhachev in Russia.

I do want that fight, I wanted it in Russia. That’s the bigger fight for me. So if he wants to fight in Moscow, we can fight. I don’t know no dates or when that is, I didn’t look past this one and I didn’t think too far into the future, but yeah sure that’s a fight I’m definitely interested in. That’s another fight that’s going to remind people again and remind myself again — I don’t give a f*ck what no one else thinks — but remind myself that I’m here, and I’m here to stay,” Lee said.

Islam Makhachev is currently riding on a six-fight winning streak. His last fight took place at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi, where he defeated Davi Ramos via unanimous decision. He has fought the likes of Kajan Johnson, Nik Lentz in the UFC. His overall Mixed Martial Arts record is 18-1.

On the other hand, Lee is coming off of a KO victory over Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244. Before that, he was on a two-fight losing streak having lost to Rafael Dos Anjos and Al Iaquinta.

Who do you guys think wins between Kevin Lee and Islam Makhachev?
