The former UFC interim lightweight title contender Kevin Lee is a big supporter of one of the 2020 US Presidential candidates of the Democratic Party, the socialist, Bernie Sanders. Sanders will be competing against the current US President Donald Trump if he were to win the Democratic Presidential nomination for candidacy. In a recent rally where Lee was campaigning for Sanders and endorsing him for Presidency, Lee did not shy away from taking a shot at Trump supporter Colby Covington’s recent KO loss.
Lee said in a rally for Sanders that while Trump supporter Colby ran away after losing, Lee had bravely stood up and taken the defeat gracefully. He said he is now preparing for his next challenge, the one in 2020, referring to the 2020 US elections. Here’s what he had to say:
For those who don’t know me: my name is Kevin Lee. I was born and raised in Detroit, but I have been living here in Las Vegas for the last four years with my family. That’s my mom, she is sitting over there, smiling at me the whole time. Last month I got to fight at the Madison Square Garden with President Trump sitting in the front. But after I knocked this kid out in the first round (Gregor Gillespie), I said ‘Bernie Sanders’ in the camera and they tried to mute me. So it is nice to be up here and to be here and to be heard.
I am a fighter and I don’t know how many of you all saw the fight last week, President Trump’s boy getting knocked out in a title fight. The man ran out of the back door of T-Mobile Arena. And I am not ashamed to stand up here and say it that I fought in that same arena in 2017 for my first World title and I lost it, I am not ashamed to say that. But I stood up, I said what I had to correct and then I started preparing for my next one in 2020.
