Former Interim UFC lightweight title challenger Kevin Lee has shared his thought on the recent downfall of the UFC’s biggest superstar Conor Mcgregor.
Conor Mcgregor was once regarded as the pound-for-pound no.1 fighter. He was also the first two division champions in the UFC. He held the featherweight and lightweight championship at the same time. In recent years, Conor has faced a rough patch in his career as he lost three fights in his last four appearances. His last win was against Cowboy Cerrone in the welterweight division. Conor is coming off two back-to-back losses against his rival Dustin Poirier. He holds a win over Dustin but has lost the last two fights in their trilogy fight series.
Kevin Lee who fought in the lightweight division for a long time talks about Conor Mcgregor’s downfall in recent years. Speaking to MMA reporter James Lynch, Lee made some bold comments over Conor and also concluded by saying that drugs are a hell of a thing.
“I see a guy who is very frustrated and kind of staying with the same old schtick, too. It’s not showing any growth in your game or who you are as a person when you rely on the same things that Conor brought him up a little bit,” Lee said. “But it’s gone to a different level. I dunno. Drugs are a hell of a thing. Drugs really take you out of it. I dunno. Best of luck to him, though. It seems like he’s going through a rough time, and it happens. But to me as a competitor, I never really looked at him, anyways. But of course, that fight still interests me, why not, why wouldn’t you do it? But I hope he’ll be able to pull it together.”
Kevin Lee himself is coming from some hard-fought losses in recent time. He is the no.11 ranked lightweight at the moment but is about to make his comeback at the welterweight division. In his comeback fight at the welterweight division, he was supposed to fight Sean Brady but the fight seemed to be cursed as it fell off few times. Now Sean is been replaced by Daniel Rodriguez and the duo will fight at UFC on ESPN 30. Kevin Lee’s last win came in an iconic way as he head kicked Gregor Gillespie into oblivion and scored a KO win over him at UFC 244.
