Former UFC Lightweight champion and Eagle FC owner Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager, Rizvan Magomedov, has taken the limelight for his comments against the recently announced mobilization in Russia, but due to his links with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, netizens are expressing their doubts over his words.
Amidst the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, on 21st September President Vladimir Putin announced a military mobilization in Russia. The country’s first military mobilization since World War II, requiring thousands of men to serve in the nation’s war against Ukraine, has been met with harsh opposition with protests taking place.
Recently, Eagle FC CEO Rizvan Magomedov shared a clip on his Instagram story regarding police officers trying to halt a protest against the mobilization, involving many women. He captioned the story, “jackals hiding behind the shield of the repression machine.”
Son after his story went viral, Magomedov followed up with a “Explanation to previous post”, stating that he’s “only telling my point of view”, “Directed to jackals in uniform who beats our women” and “I do not participate in ANY rebellious or protest movements, so do not tag or label me”

Despite his statements, many netizens expressed their doubts over Rizvan’s actual stance on the situation. Investigative journalist Karim Zidan pointed out his “working relationship with Ramzan Kadyrov, who is forcibly conscripting Chechens into the war,” and also that he “he manages Kadyrov’s fighters in the UFC.”
“I would take anything that hypocrite says with a mountain of salt,” Zidan added.

Dagestani MMA fighter Muhammad Mokaev, who fled to the UK as a refugee, also penned a lengthy Instagram post in solidarity with his people.
“As salaam aleikum! A very bad situation is happening in Dagestan, you oppress your own people, it is clear that you have an order to stop the rally, but you can do without pulling women and shooting in the air. If you are going to be taken away tomorrow, your women will stand up for you as well.”
“Do your job carefully without stressing your own people, tomorrow you do not know what the situation will be in your homes! In Dagestan, people have so small salaries, men earn as much as they can, and they are taken away to fight… understand your own people, at least women! Give patience to all the people of the Caucasus in this difficult time! New Year’s Eve at #Дагестан #Кавказ” [Translated from Muhammad Mokaev’s Instagram handle]
