Khabib Nurmagomedov all but confirms his next opponent

Two months ago at UFC 242, Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defended his UFC lightweight title against Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi by defeating him in the third round via rear-naked choke.

Now all the fans want is the ultimate fight between former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and technically he is also the most obvious choice considering that he is currently riding on a twelve fight winning streak since 2013.

During a most-recent press conference in Moscow ahead of UFC Fight Night 163, Nurmagomedov said that Tony Ferguson will be his next opponent.

Possibility of Ferguson being my next opponent is I would say %95. Because the fans want it, I really want it and UFC wants it. But it being in Moscow is highly unlikely.” Khabib told the media.

He will probably fight in early next year and quite possibly in the first quarter of 2020 according to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter.

“According to Russian outlet @tassagency_en, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s next bout is being targeted for February or March per his manager @Rizvan_RM Khabib mentioned in an interview with @channelone_rus that he’d like it to be at Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg, which holds 75,000,” Aaron wrote.

Do you guys think Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight Tony Ferguson next?
