Eagle FC, the mixed martial arts promotion owned by the former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the fastest growing in the industry and Khabib believes they still need between five to seven years to soar above the rest.

Formerly known as Federation of MMA of Samara and which later became Gorilla Fighting Championship, was bought by Khabib in November 2020 in the wake of his retirement from the sport, and “The Eagle” renamed his native promotion to Eagle Fighting Championship.
After its rebrand, the promotion has been hosting regular events since EFC 30 in December 2020 and so far, has landed some of the most well-known fighters into their roster, including former UFC champions, title challengers and fighters such as Junior dos Santos, Kevin Lee, Renan Barão, Rashad Evans, Umar Nurmagomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov, Antônio Silva, Ray Borg and so on.
Even though the UFC is still the top drawer in the sport and is expected to continue dominating the sport in the coming years, Khabib believes Eagle FC will also climb the ladder to the top spot and in his timeline, it may take from five to seven more years to reach the summit.
“I think we need five, seven years. Because for this business, you have to create content. To create content you need years and years. We’re just beginning. We’re just beginning and we need, I think, at least five to seven years to become on top,” Khabib said in an interview posted on the official Eagle FC YouTube channel. [H/T Sportskeeda]
Eagle FC hosted its most recent event- Eagle FC 47, on 20th May at the FLXcast Arena in Miami, Florida, with a mouth watering fight card featuring former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos against Yorgan De Castro, in which the latter came out victorious.
After hosting numerous events in Russia and Kazakhstan, Eagle FC landed on the US soil on 28th January this year with Eagle FC 44: Spong vs. Kharitonov, which also took place in Miami.
