UFC 242 is seeing the Ultimate Fighting Championship return to Abu Dhabi after 5 years. With a long term deal in place with the country to host events over the next 5 years, UFC 242 will be the start of something big. As a result, it appears that the company is pulling out all the big guns for the event.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is the rumoured headliner for the event. It is perfect timing, as it was announced that the fighter would be returning to compete after his suspension in September, and UFC 242 is taking place on the 7th of September. Nurmagomedov had earlier revealed that there was work being put in to bring UFC to the United Arab Emirates.
“Yes, we are working on it. UFC told me they are working on this. I just came back from Dubai. And very soon news is coming. Very soon.”
Now that it has been confirmed that they are indeed returning, the rumours have started to surface that the UFC Lightweight Champion could be the one to headline the event in question, which would see the UFC return after 5 years.
UFC has officially announced UFC 242 will take place on Sept. 7 in Abu Dhabi. No official headliner, but Khabib Nurmagomedov's return is expected to main event. UFC also announces a five-year commitment to host live events in Abu Dhabi.

Now, the question arises that if he does return, whom does he face? The Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier or a suddenly returning Conor McGregor?
